Milestones and Activities
- At each age level, our cognitive development is linked with our motor development and our emotional development as we explore the world.

- Through language we exchange our ideas and feelings with the people in our lives.

Social Milestones/4-5 Years
- Plays and interacts with other children; Uses words to invite others to play;
- Becomes better at sharing and taking turns with other children;
- Enjoys playing games, but might change the rules during play; Enjoys competitive games;
- Enjoys dramatic, imaginative play with other children (dress up or house);
- Shows good control of the elements of conversation; Keeps a conversation going; Ends conversations appropriately; Talks a lot and about everything they are doing or thinking; Talks in different ways depending on the listener and place;
- Uses the pronouns herself, himself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, and themselves;
- Learns through observing and listening to adults; Compares himself or herself to other children and adults;
- Expresses more awareness of other people's feelings;
- Develops friendships with other kids;
- Shows some awareness and understanding of moral reasoning, such as “fairness”, and good or bad behavior;
- Uses language to resolve disputes with peers; Uses direct requests with justification (e.g., “Stop that. You’re hurting me.”);
- Shows interest in exploring sex differences;
